Football- for absolute beginners

Football is one among the popular sports in the world. It is played by millions of people for fun, for competition or both on an individual and team level. A game with its own rules and regulation , in which two teams play for a victory by scoring goals. A team wins the match by kicking a ball into the opposing team's goal and thus scoring goals.Some or all matches have "extra time" or "injury time" at the end of a match which refers to the additional minutes that are played at the end of a match to compensate for time lost due to stoppages like injury,substitution of a player etc during the 90 minutes of the game.

The basics

Football also known as soccer football or association football is a game that lasts for 90 minutes ,which is divided into two 45 minutes halves. During this time period, the two playing teams of 11 players each try to score more goals than their opponent

Players are not allowed to touch the ball with their hands and arms but can use any other body part like feet,head,torso to control and pass the ball. A goalkeeper is an exception among the players who can touch the ball with their hand within their penalty area.

A kickoff denotes the start of the game in which one team passes the ball to a teammate from the center of the filed.The player moves the ball towards the opponent’s goal and score a goal if the ball enters the net, past the goalkeeper.

Throughout the 90 minutes ,the game is in constant motion,where players run,pass and defend the ball.The game is strictly contolled by a referee who enforces the rules of the game and also issues fouls for the players who pushes,tripps or uses any other dangerous tackels against the other players.

After 45 minutes from the game started,a 15 minutes break for the players to rest and strategize for the second half is given. After the 90 minutes of the game, if the game ends in a tie some matches have a penalty shootout to determine the winner of the match.. Football is a fast-paced, exciting game that requires skill, teamwork, and strategy to succeed.

Football ground

A football fields or football ground or soccer field is the playing area for the football or soccer.It is rectangular field with specific dimensions and many lines indicating various area of play marked in it.It is usually made of natural or artificial grass or artificial turf as seen in big stadiums.
The playing surface is sorrounded by a boundary. The goalpostsare located at the either end of the football field ,and has 2 vertical posts with a horizontal crossbar.Football fields also has seperate places for the spectators, floodlights, scoreboards, and other amenities

A football ground is a crucial and main element of a football game which provides a standerdized playing surface for teams to play their official or unoffial matches and also offers the officals and fans to watch and enjoy the match

Football Team

11players who play on the field at the same time constitute a football team.A football team has players who are specialized in different positions of the field and has specific responsibilities and roles.
The team also include a number of substitute players who are brought to the field to replace injured or tired players. Three substitutions are allowed for a team during a game.
A coach and supporting staff which include assistant coaches, physiotherapists, and trainers help to prepare the team for matches and keep the players fit and healthy

Football player

An athlete who plays football or soccer is a football player. A football player is divided into different positions. The responsibilities of a player in each position is different and also requires certain skills for a particular position. The various positions of a player are goalkeeper,defender,midfielder and forward.

The main skills needed by a football player includes dribbling, passing, shooting, and tackling.good physical fitness, stamina, and the ability to work well in a team is a must for any football player.Highl;y skilled professional footballer are often paid high salaries by the club or national team to play for them.

The Football Captain

A player chosen to lead the team on the field during the game is called as the Captain of the football team.He is a player who has earned the respect of othe teammmates and has shown strong leadership skills off and on the ground.The main responsibility of a captain includes communicating with referee,leading the team during warm ups and before the game, make tactical decisions during the game and more important is to motivates the team
A captain leads the team on the field and ensuring that the players are working together towards a common goal.
