Indian chess player wins Silver at World Blitz Chess Championship 2023
Indian chess player, Koneru Humpy is the silver medalist at the World Blitz chess championship, 2023. It is India’s first-ever silver medal from the Blitz chess championship.
She defeated Zhongyi Tan from China and won Silver in the 17th and final round.She became the second Indian to win a medal at World Blitz, after Viswanathan Anand. She got 12.5points in the championship, just half point less than the gold medalist Bibisara Balabayeva of Kazakhstan.

Konery Humpy is India's Former World rapid champion.Koneru Hampy has won numerous accolades in her career including the Women's World Rapid Chess Championship in 2019 and the Women's World Junior Chess Championship in 2001. She was the winner of under 8 National Chess Championship in 1995. Koneru won her first international tournament at the age of eight and became the youngest player to win the Indian Women's National Championship at the age of 11.

In 2002, Humpy became the youngest woman ever to achieve the title of International Master in chess, and in 2007 she became the youngest woman ever to achieve the title of Grandmaster. Koneru Humpy also represented India in the Chess Olympiad and won several team and individual medals.
Koneru’s achievements have inspired many young chess players in India and around the world. The Indian Government has awarded the Arjuna Award for Chessin 2003 and the Padma Shri in 2007 to Koneru . The BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year 2021 winner is also Koneru.
