Due to Covid -19 pandemic the Asia cup 2020 was postponed to 2021 March , which was again postponed to 2023 due to ongoing Covid 19 Pandemeic and some date clashes with other international tournament where the participating countries where supposed to take part.
Is Asia Cup 2023 an ODI match or a T20I match?
In 2015, it was decided to play ODI and T20I tournaments in a rotational format in Asia Cup Cricket tournaments.So the 2016 Asia Cup was a T20I format. In terms of rotation wise,this year in Asia Cup 2023 , the matches will be played in format of One Day Internationals (ODI).
Who is the host of Asia Cup 2023?
When the 2020 Asia cup was decided, ACC had selected SriLanka as a host for that year. But when the tournament was postponed to 2023 due to covid 19 pandemic, Pakistan , who was the host for Aisa Cup 2022, after the meeting with ACC swapped the hosting rights with SriLanka, the host of AsiaCup 2023. But finally in June 2023 ACC has announced that first time in Asia Cup cricket , two countries mainly Pakistan and SriLanka will be hosting the 16th edition , The Asia Cup Cricket 2023.
The Asian Cricket Council stated that the event would be co-hosted, with four matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches taking place in Sri Lanka.So that the four group stage matches will be at Pakistan and the second phase of the tournament including the final match will be at SriLankan fields.
Who will win Asia Cup 2023?
A million dollar question from all the cricket fans around the world with a perplexing answer is who will win the tournament? or Who will raise the cup?If we look at the countries playing in the Asia cup 16th edition, all countries are in great form. How does a team qualify for Asia Cup Cricket 2023 ?
ICC full members India,Pakistan,SriLanka,Bangladesh, and Afghanistan received a direct entry to the Asia Cup. These five countries are a full member nations of ACC also.There was a qualification tournament,the ACC Men's Premier Cup for the other associate member nations and teams of ACC. The ACC Men's Premier Cup was held for the first time, and it served as the last round of qualification for the 2023 Asia Cup competition.Nepal defeated United Arab Emirates in the inaugral ACC Men's Premium Cup and entered the Asia Cup Cricket 2023.
Thus a total of 6 countries is participating in 16th edition of Asia Cup.
